On this week’s episode, Mark & Austin visit with Butch Stone, the man former Gov. Mike Huckabee credited as “single-handedly creating the concert industry in the state of Arkansas.” He became a presence in the world of music as manager of a little band out of NE Arkansas by the name of Black Oak Arkansas. He later took the reins of Swiss heavy metal band Krokus and along the way garnered 34 Gold and Platinum records between the two. He was responsible for bringing the Eagles’ Hell Freezes Over Tour to War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock and to this day that event is the highest grossing (and attended) concert in Arkansas history. During this fascinating hour, we’ll discuss his relationship with President Bill Clinton, his years promoting shows at the Riverfront Amphitheatre, his role in fighting censorship in Arkansas and more. Butch opens up about his relationships with the largest power brokers in the music business such as Irving Azoff (Eagles, Van Halen, etc..)& Jerry Heller (NWA/Straight Outta Compton, his close friendship with Roger Waters (Pink Floyd) and his encounters with Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon & more. Stories include the likes of Suge Knight, David Lee Roth and a standoff with the Samoan Mafia that included such luminaries as Frank Barcelona and Carlo Gambino……..I sure hope Austin and I have no beef with Suge or the Gambinos after this podcast is released BUT if we do…..WE GOAT THIS!
